The Texas capital received the highest marks for its work-life balance and for relatively high salaries compared to other top destinations for job seekers, according to the ranking by Austin-based jobs site Indeed.com.

Austin has the second-lowest unemployment rate in Texas, well below the national average.

Looking at the country as a whole, Indeed found the most opportunities in the South and the West. The top 16 metros are all in the Sun Belt, and only one city in the top nine is outside Florida, Texas and California.
